Simplifying Love and Respect in Life and The Workplace
The idea of Lunch Sack Leadership began when I hosted a technology panel on culture and leadership with a group of Chief Information and Technology Officers. I walked them through the exercise and asked how they made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The positive response I received from the participants was overwhelming. At first, I thought this might be a one-off response, so I tried it several more times with other leaders and executives, and the positive feedback was the same. As a former business analyst and project manager, the technical complexity around the building of the sandwich resonated with me because I knew it could be used in organizational and business theory.
The simplicity of using the metaphor of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, an American household food item, disarms and encourages people to open up about their preferences, which easily translates into meaningful discussion on workplace behaviors and business systems.

Don't Be That Boss
I have worked in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields all my career and have had the pleasure of working alongside and being inspired by some extraordinarily intelligent people. Nothing fills the room like the egos and university degrees of intellectuals who work in the STEM fields. Another purpose of using the peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a metaphor is deconstructing the ego.
